Title: The End Of The Beginning

Part: XXIV
Pairing: Xander/Spike (eventually)
Overall Rating: NC17
Chapter Rating:R
Beta: [info]shakatany
Disclaimer: No money, not mine.
AN: I know it's taken me even longer to get this chapter done than the last one, and I'm really sorry for that guys. Hopefully they'll be coming with some sort of regularity, though no promises. Anyway, please remember my warning from the previous chapter. I've tried to keep everything suggested, but it's still not kid friendly.

Blood Match: Chapter 8

  • Nov. 6th, 2009 at 6:02 PM
Blood Match
Rating: R
Summary: When Emma is saved from death by the evil and enigmatic vampire Spike the two develop a shaky friendship based on mutual loneliness. Sarcastic and at times awkward the pair discover a desire to be more then just friends. But can love between the Big Bad and a human end with anything but death?
Main Characters: Spike, Emma
Disclaimer: I do not own any of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer characters or plot devices. This is a non-profit story.

Chapter 8
ObWittering: Oh dear, I think that Seven+Ace seed planted in my brain months ago just decided to germinate.

ObFitness: Really amazingly sore after boxing the other day. Wow. The next time I write a Buffy training sequence, I'll have some details to use for it.

ObBuffy: I could watch the first three seasons of BtVS over and over. Season 4 as well. The rest? Not so much. Though I will rewatch some chunks of S5.

ObMeme: Snagged from [info]spiralleds and [info]violetisblue, which means that this one is all over fandom today: Pick a paragraph (or any passage less than 500 words) from any fanfic I've written, and comment to this post with that selection. I will then give you a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what's going on in the character's heads, why I chose certain words, what this moment means in the context of the rest of the fic, lots of awful puns, and anything else that you'd expect to find on a DVD commentary track.

UGH! I feel weird.

  • Nov. 5th, 2009 at 5:39 PM
I feel really weird. I'm, like, halfway sick or something strange like that.

My head aches dreadfully, but it could just be because it's the first day of my time of the month and I always get awful headaches then anyway. I definitely have cramps, which hurt already (even though the worst day for me is always the second day).

I feel slightly nauseated but that could be because of something I ate. It's not the kind of nausea I get when I have a really bad headache, though. And it's not the kind of nausea I felt the last time I was ill or the time before that when I was ill. It's a different feeling. Higher up than in my stomach. Like the lower part of my throat. Does that make any sense?

This morning I was incredibly hot for hours on end even though it's cool outside, but that could be because the library was pretty warm and I had on several layers for a while before stripping them off. The heat lingered for a long time, though, which is sort of weird. I took my temperature three times already today: 97.2 twice and 97.3 the last time.

I'm not not hungry. I just had some food and feel neither worse nor better (though I'm still a little hungry).

UGH! Why do I feel like this now, right before FaerieCon? Why THIS weekend? I have NO idea what's up with me. Could just be period-related awfulness. Could be the flu (I got the normal flu shot but not the swine flu shot). I can't tell. I just feel meh. And worried. I wish I knew what was going on with my body, one way or another. WTF?

random things

1. Franklin College has an organic food buffet for $7 that always includes nonfat FroYo. Today's flavor was Mounds Bar. Mm.

2. Rivers Cuomo wrote one of the songs on Adam Lambert's new album. As if I weren't already excited enough! His first single is so danceable! It's going on my workout mix.

3. I almost started crying while reading one of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's love sonnets to my class. Predictably, it was "How do I love thee, let me count the ways..." Tomorrow is Tennyson's "Ulysses" and I fear I'll have the same problem.

4. My mental "happy place" is next summer's trip to Europe. Other than the Netherlands, I don't know where else I'm going. But I kind of want to travel about. For like a month. Why not--I have the summer off! I guess I'll need to save up more money, though.

5. Can we just HAVE GAY MARRIAGE RIGHTS NOW? What is the EFFING PROBLEM!?! GIVE IT.

Purchases

  • Nov. 5th, 2009 at 2:39 PM
Yesterday, spur of the moment, I bought the Wizard Rock Calendar for 2010. So that's going to be my calendar for next year, and I'm happy with that decision.

There's a Blockbuster going out of business down the street from my house (makes me SO sad. That's 3 out of 4 local ones that have gone under in the past several years). They're having a clearance sale. EVERYTHING must go. And when they say everything, they mean EVERYTHING. Shelves, chairs, the backing cards to mark the place of DVDs, etc. I bought about $30 worth of stuff:
  • Entire Season 1 of LOST on DVD (that is the only season I would ever consider purchasing)

  • True Blood Episodes 1 & 2 on DVD

  • Fever Pitch on DVD (plan to send to soldiers)

  • Freedom Writers on DVD

  • Incendiary on DVD (Ewan movie I didn't already own! Terribly depressing so I don't know when I'll watch it again, but nice to add to my Ewan movie collection)

  • Deception on DVD (SQUEE! Ewan movie I didn't already own!)

  • 20 backing cards for various movies: Wanted (for my father), Taken (3), Taken- Extended Cut, Watchmen (3), Incendiary (3), The Tudors- 2nd season, Heroes- season 3, Brison Break- season 1, Prison Break- season 3, Prison Break- season 4, Heroes- season 2, Eating Out 2, First Out, In & Out, Bones- season 2, Dexter- 2nd season, Earth- Disney Nature,

Not entirely sure what to do with some of these cards- some will accompany gifts, some will be part of art projects, some will be eye candy, some will be slipped into the Gay Cinemaology book before I pass it on in a Bookbox).

This is book sale weekend at my local library. I'm going away to FaerieCon so I'll miss days 2 and 3 (bag sale) but I'm hitting the first 2 hours of the each sale. I got some amazing books from book sale #1: http://katekintailbc.livejournal.com/41049.html
The highlights include:
  • 20 comic books

  • Earth 2 on DVD

  • The 4400 Season 2 on DVD

  • Fury: Peacemaker Graphic Novel

  • Fairyopolis

  • Wait Til Helen Comes- signed by the author

  • The Little House Trivia Book

  • The Marvelous Land of Oz- hardcover, gorgeous

  • Star Wars: The Ultimate Visual Guide

  • Harry Potter Poster Book: Hogwarts Through the Ages- movies 1-5

  • The Great Snape Debate

But I'm pretty excited about everything I bought, so just check out the full list :-)

I've also been buying some LEGO so I can work on my Harry Potter Christmas display in time to finish it by Christmas! And I bought some pieces for the Room of Requirement LEGO display and the Hockey one as well. AND I purchased the movie 3 Hagrid's Hut LEGO set. So apart from the $350+ motorized Hogwarts Express, I now own EVERY Harry Potter LEGO set! Yay!

Okay. Now I'm off to buy some last minute trip supplies/food.

  • [info]accioslash: Thirty Days of Spam...Day 2 - Fic and art clearly aren't treated the same by fandom when it comes to unauthorized re-posting. Seriously, how long do you think I could actually keep up a site with a re-post of a popular fan fic with the notation "I don't know who wrote this, but if it's yours, let me know and I'll credit you." But I see that with art all the time. -

  • [info]ladydreamer: Easy Out - I've heard producers and writers often talking about how flattering it is that fans can get so angry at them about what they've done on a television show or a movie, and how it's an ultimate compliment in a way, since what they want to do is move the audience, to make them feel intense emotions. Any emotion is good, right? -

The other V...Vampire Diaries

  • Nov. 4th, 2009 at 10:40 PM

Okay, is it just me, or does this show keep getting better?  I adore Damon with his pouty bad-boy lips.  When he's on-screen with Elena it just sizzles.  But more than that, I like the stories.  I like there's this rich history in Mystic Falls that they're drawing on, and that the characters are tied to it.

Anyone watch this last night? I have to admit that I was pretty disappointed. I enjoyed the original, but this re-make? Not so much.

Not huge spoilers, but...just in case )
Title: Untitled sequel to Strange Fascination. If you have a suggestion for a title, please let me know.
Author: [info]kallie_kat (a.k.a. KallieRose or just plain Kat)
Pairing: Will eventually be Willow/Spike, but I might throw in some other stuff along the way.
Overall rating: NC-17/FRAO
Feedback: very welcome. It encourages me to write more, so if you're interested in this then please let me know.
Summary: Set directly after the end of Strange Fascination. However, if you haven't read that and don't intend to, all you really need to know is: (1) Angelus and a vamped Xander found their way into the other Sunnydale by way of a dimensional rift; (2) When the Scoobies tried to send them back, Willow and Angel were accidentally pushed through instead; and (3) Angelus stated many times that in his Sunnydale vampires were in control and humans were kept around merely for food and entertainment.
Disclaimer: I own none of the characters and claim no responsibility for anything other than this story, from which no profit is made.
Author's Notes: I started this ages and ages and ages ago. I'm trying to get myself interested in writing again, so I thought I'd post this and see what people thought. Thanks to Elisabeth for the beta!

Strange Fascination can be found here.

Chapter 7

REC: Protect and Survive (Seven, Ace, gen)

  • Nov. 4th, 2009 at 3:04 PM
Protect and Survive, by JJPOR. gen, FRT

The Seventh Doctor, Ace, Curtis LeMay, and an oddly familiar giggling man in a wheelchair. Nuclear war, messed up timelines, megadeath, and a Doctor with the cold-blooded side showing. Wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff, paradox, history, real stakes, twists, and the bodycount the Doctor always leaves behind himself. Seven can be dark, and he is here, and the shadows of his other selves are with him.

This is what I want from Who fanfic. This. Thanks very much for the rec, [info]clocketpatch. I'm very glad to have read it.

I Wish I Were Going!

OMG How much do I love the Remus Lupins? I wish I were going to Wrockstock this weekend!

They manage Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars, and Harry Potter all in one video. East India Trading Ministry? AWESOME! I mean... awful!

Free Toby!

But the good news is, I'll be able to watch a little of the concerts on LiveStream. I should be home from FaerieCon in enough time to catch the Mudbloods' last performance. *crosses fingers*

Puppy Love 49/50 - Play Time

  • Nov. 4th, 2009 at 2:36 AM
Chapter 50 is more of an epilogue, the story's almost over kids, I'm kinda sad about that.

Title: Puppy Love 49/50 - Play Time
Pairings: Spike/Xander
Appropriate Ratings: NC17 overall, this chapter... NC17
Warnings: M/m, the usual warnings of kink and such, but it's a really tame chapter.
Disclaimers: Not my characters. I make no money off this, I'm just playing. I promise to give them a bath and thorough cleaning when I’m done! Joss Whedon is my lord and Master. All hail Joss Whedon.
Short Summary: Puppy learns a new trade.
Word Count: 526 (as per Word Count)
Beta: [info]purpledodah and [info]laazikaat
Concrit: always welcome in comments, e-mail or MSN, whichever.

Two wonderful banners by [info]purpledodah beneath the cut. One not really work safe but it's great for the fic.

Xander pranced about the room, cleaning it, bending over at the waist to dust and pick up things, letting his skirt lift up and show off his bruised and striped ass.

I Have Air!

  • Nov. 3rd, 2009 at 7:05 PM
For the first time ever today, I put air in my tires all by myself! No dad, no boyfriend, no one but me, myself, and I!

When the weather started getting colder, my car gave me a tire pressure alert... which has been on for more than a month now. So today I finally went during my lunch break and put air in my tires. My boss told me to take our part-timer (the only guy in our department). I told her I thought I could do it myself but she kept telling me to ask him to come along and help. But I decided just to try it myself and I'm glad I did.

I broke out the little meter that now ex-boyfriend gave me and read in the manual what it was supposed to be. And I didn't do a fantastic job, but I did all right for my first time. Didn't lose any caps or make the tires go flat or anything. When I pulled away afterwards, the alert was still on and I was frustrated and bummed. But halfway back to work (you can practically see the street my building is on from the gas station) the little orange (.!.) alert turned off and it's been off ever since! I'm so thrilled. I am the Queen of Tire Inflating! My Love now has air!

Okay, so this is a stupid little thing that probably everyone mastered years ago. But it's a big deal to me. I feel all girl power-y and independent.

First tire pressure, then changing tires, then taking over the world!

(Though, actually, you can scratch that last bit.)

On a completely unrelated note, I posted my Hufflepuff Halloween Challenge story over at [info]hp_sickfics on Sunday. I don't think I mentioned that already. Warning: it's very Hufflepuffy. Yes, that IS an adjective, thank you very much.
